A. J. De Almeida High School Ponda wins the 1st Prize
“The values of Patriotism and National Integration must be inculcated in the students through our educational system which will help in producing good citizens to this country” said Shri. Pratapsingh Raoji Rane, Hon’ble Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly, while addressing the students and teachers on the occasion of Inter School Competition of Dance on Konkani Songs of National Integration on 23rd August 2010 at Kala Academy, Panjim. The competition was organized by Kala Mogi Candolim in collaboration with Tiatr Academy of Goa and Dalgado Konknni Akademi.
Speaking further, Shri. Rane congratulated Kala Mogi Candolim for organizing an inter school activity which tends to promote national integration. Shri. Rane also complemented the talent of young students in staging a good performance of dance.
In all 19 schools participated in the competition and presented variety of dances on Konkani songs of National Integration. The 1st prize for best performance was bagged by A. J. De Almeida High School Ponda, the 2nd prize was won by St. Mary’s High School, Varca and the 3rd by Fatima Convent High School Margao. The first three winners were awarded with special trophies besides Rs. 5000/- Rs. 3000/- and Rs. 2000/- respectively. All the participants and teachers were given certificates of participation.
The competition was judged by well known personalities from the field of dance namely Dr. Sharmila Rao, Silvia Fernandes and Dr. Kshitija Barve.
While welcoming the guests Shri. Tomazinho Cardozo expressed the need to have more activities in all educational institutions which will help in creating love for the country among the students. Later Shri. Joy Fernandes, Treasurer of Kala Mogi thanked the participants and the guests.
