TAG to preserve Tiatr Literature
Tiatr Academy Goa (TAG) has observed that although thousands of tiatr scripts are written and staged, there are very few tiatr scripts published in the book form. TAG intends to preserve tiatr literature for posterity. This can be done by publishing books of scripts of Tiatrs, One Act Plays and Lyrics of songs, with or without music scores. TAG, therefore will publish books of tiatr scripts, lyrics of songs, one act plays, etc in book form. Interested script writers and lyricists are requested to send three copies each of the scripts of tiatr or lyrics of songs to TAG on or before 15th November, 2009.
Promotion of Tiatr music
The TAG has observed that the number of musicians playing blowing instruments such as Trumpet and Saxphone is decreasing day by day and that these two instruments are very important in the music of the Tiatr. In view of this the TAG has formulated a scheme to encourage youth and others to learn to play blowing instruments particularly Trumpet and Saxphone by providing them with financial assistance.
Documentation of the history of Tiatr
TAG felt that there is an urgent need to document the history of Goan Tiatr. It was also strongly felt that priority must be given to oral documentation with the help of old Tiatr artistes who are still living.
Hence TAG has decided to document the history and experiences in the field of Tiatr by interviewing old artistes of Tiatr which includes writers, directors, actors, singers, musicians, persons involved in stage setting, light effects, background music, DVDs, etc. It was also resolved to document the history of tiatr by publishing books on history, critical appreciation and on any other topics related to Tiatr, its song and music.
Persons interested in taking up the work of documentation may contact the Member Secretary of TAG on phone number 9823375530 or the President on phone no. 9822170102
