Award Presentation Ceremony




“Zaiat Zage” a tiatr written and directed by Prince Jacob bagged the Best Tiatr Award of the year 2009 in the 1st Popular Tiatr Festival Organized by Tiatr Academy of Goa. “Bheiman Kir” written and directed by Mario Menezes and “100 Vorsam” by Menino de Bandar won second and third places respectively



Mario Menezes was adjudged the “Best Male Actor” while Sharon Fernandes won the ‘Best Female Actor’ Award.



The declaration and presentation of awards was made in a special function organized on 6th instant at the Pai Tiatrist Hall, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. Numerous personalities of Goa mostly artistes, writers, promoters, politicians, etc attended the function and gave away the prizes.



Shri. Churchil Alemao, PWD Minister said that Tiatr is a very important part of Goan culture and that it has to be preserved. He complimented Tiatr Academy of Goa for doing a splendid work in this direction. Others who attended the function and gave away the prizes are: President of Dalgado Konknni Akademy Shri - Premanad Lotlikar, Vice-President of Goa Konknni Academy – Shri. Vincy Quadros, Vice-Chairman of Ravindra Bhavan – Shri. Shridar Kamar, Director of Information & Publicirty – Shri. Menino Pires, Tiatr stalwarts – Rico Rod, John Claro and cultural activists Dr. Francisco Colaco, Agie Alcoases, Vishal Kakode and others.



On this occasion an impressive cultural programme was presented by Cansaulim Kala Mogi under the direction of Debbie Fernandes, attractive dances by Sinipa Govekar and Pooja Bedi and a depiction of legendary Charlie Chaplin by Spirit and his troupe.

The 10 days 1st Popular Tiatr Festival 2009 organized by Tiatr Academy of Goa came to an end on 5th March 2010. In all 10 commercial tiatrs participated in the Festival.
