Jvalamukhi - a Konkani Book of more than 60 essays by Guadalupe Dias

PRESS RELEASEThe book release function is organized by Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA).




Jvalamukhi a book of more than 60 essays written in Konknni Romi script by Guadalupe Dias will be released on 15th October, 2011 at Tiatr Akademi’s Conference Hall at 4.30 pm. 

Menino Peres, Director of Information & Publicity, Goa Government will be the Chief Guest, while Fr. Alvaro Martins, Parish Priest of Mae dos Pobres Church, Nuvem will be the Guest of Honor.  Premanand A Lotlikar, President of Dalgado Konknni Akademi will preside over the function. Well known Konknni writer and poet Walter Menezes will review the book, and Konknni writer Mathew D’Souza will compere the function.

The book has been published under DKA’s Kombri Scheme.

SHAMACHI AAI - now in Konkani as translated by BRENDA MENEZES

SHAMACHI AAI - a very famous book in Marathi is now available in Konknni. The National Book Trust is publishing Sane Guruji`s book translated by Brenda Menezes.


Shyamchi Aai (Marathi: श्यामची आई; English: Shyam's Mother) is hailed as one of the greatest tribute to mother's love in Marathi literature. This book has been written by famous author and social activist Sane Guruji.

This book is an autobiography of Sane Guruji belonging to a Brahmin family in Konkan region of rural Maharashtra during British Raj. Sane Guruji (now an adult) who was fondly called as Shyam during his childhood is narrating his memories to a group of children in a daily night sitting.

Brenda Menezes is the author of two Konkani books. NATTYANGANN, a collection of humourous one-act plays and 14 DOYALLEO KORNNEO, a book of short stories based on Christian values.

Konkani play: SANGON MUGDANA

 Sangon Mugdana…! the Konkani play which thoroughly entertained the audience several places in Mangalore and Gulf countries, is now all set to be staged in Kuwait by local Kuwait artistes.


United Mangaloreans Kuwait (UMK), yet again, will be presenting their 3rd ‘Fun Filled Evening - 2011’ on Friday October 7, 2011, at 5.30 pm at the American International School, Maidan Hawalli, with a set of new and old local artistes. The event is being organized in aid of ‘White Doves’, a shelter for homeless destitute in Mangalore, This programme will include a variety of melodious songs and foot-tapping dances, followed by the much-acclaimed social- comical thriller drama, ‘Sangon Mugdana…!’

This three-hour-long comedy play has been authored by Pradeep Barboza, Paladka, and directed by Ronald D'Souza, Mulky.

The play focuses on the concept of unending tales of ones day-today-life. UMK has put in lot of efforts to stage this comedy play, which promises to provide non-stop entertainment. The UMK Group has requested the audiences to occupy their seats well in advance, as the event will kick-off at 5.30 pm sharp.

UMK has thanked all its sponsors, media partners, well-wishers and the audiences for their continued overwhelming support for its two shows presented in 2009 and 2010. Through the generous support and contributions of everyone concerned, the shows were super hit and successful, it said.
