SHAMACHI AAI - now in Konkani as translated by BRENDA MENEZES

SHAMACHI AAI - a very famous book in Marathi is now available in Konknni. The National Book Trust is publishing Sane Guruji`s book translated by Brenda Menezes.


Shyamchi Aai (Marathi: श्यामची आई; English: Shyam's Mother) is hailed as one of the greatest tribute to mother's love in Marathi literature. This book has been written by famous author and social activist Sane Guruji.

This book is an autobiography of Sane Guruji belonging to a Brahmin family in Konkan region of rural Maharashtra during British Raj. Sane Guruji (now an adult) who was fondly called as Shyam during his childhood is narrating his memories to a group of children in a daily night sitting.

ABOUT THE TRANSLATOR

Brenda Menezes is the author of two Konkani books. NATTYANGANN, a collection of humourous one-act plays and 14 DOYALLEO KORNNEO, a book of short stories based on Christian values.
